Fuel Group has filed suit against the City of St Pete for turning down its plan for the Westin Hotel and Condos in downtown St Petersburg

After the success of the Citivest developers in their suit against the City of Tampa for "illegally" turning down their condo project for Hyde Park because of neighborhood resistance, it’s not surprising that the Fuel Group has now filed suit against St Petersburg.

Fuel Group originally planned for a 32 story structure at the corner of 1st St and 5th Ave North, then revised the plan to be smaller, in accordance with neighbors’ wishes. Though meeting the zoning rules in effect at that time, the neighbors objected, saying it was inconsistent with the neighborhood. The St Petersburg City Council agreed with their constituents. The City must respond by January 21st.
