Want to remove a tree in St Petersburg?

Chopping down a tree used to be a hassle in St Petersburg, Florida. You had to contact St Pete’s Development Services department and schedule a staff member to come out and look at the tree, and then give you your options.

One result of the mandated reduction in property taxes is that this process has been simplified.  Permits will now be handled by the St Petersburg parks department, and the new city policy states that for residential properties, only oak or pine trees that are at least 24 inches in diameter will now be regulated. You can cut down any others. To obtain a tree removal permit where required, call (727) 893-7171.

Commercial property owners will still need to contact the St Petersburg Development Services department prior to cutting or removing any trees.
