USAA Announces Florida Insurance Cutbacks
USAA Insurance plans to reduce its exposure in Florida
USAA says 9% of its policyholders are in Florida, but 49% of its risk is here. To change those ratios, USAA announced that it will issue new homeowners policies in Florida only to active military personnel who actually have orders to a Florida base, and for only their primary residence. Existing policy holders who have a single residence insured in Florida will be permitted to renew and continue their homeowners insurance. We expect this to have a significant impact on retiring and retired military moving to Florida.
