Ready to reinvent yourself? Move to St Pete!
Kiplinger rates Tampa Bay Florida #1 location for reinventing yourself
A strong creative class, vibrant culture and education, low crime rate and great health care were criteria Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine used to select the #1 place (of five) for reinventing yourself, designing an encore, repotting or retiring. They caution, however, that if you define retirement as white belts and canasta, then Tampa Bay ISN’T the place to go. One new resident, 52, says "St. Petersburg is a good place to turn yourself inside out … it’s a place of no boundaries."
Tampa Bay, as local residents will be quick to point out, isn’t a city, it’s a body of water. Nonetheless, the rest of the world considers Tampa, Clearwater and St Petersburg as Tampa Bay, Florida.
Over the last decade downtown St Petersburg has reinvented itself. The public waterfront lined with parks it the same as it always was (never marinas, perhaps) but the sidewalk cafes are new, and the vibrant art scene is new, and the million dollar plus condos overlooking the bay are new, and the restaurants, the shops, the museums - everything is pulsating, yet has a laid-back casual pace.
Want to fly in aboard your private jet, then walk home or to work or to your boat or to shop, or all of the above - then come and see St Pete!
