Ikea announced that it will be opening in Tampa Bay in 2009

Ikea plans to open a huge furniture store in Tampa Bay in 2009 - located near Adamo Drive and Ybor City, the store is scheduled to be 353,000 sq ft (twice the size of Home Depot on 22nd Ave in St. Petersburg, which is the largest Home Depot east of the Mississippi). Subject to a zoning change, construction is expected to start in about a year. This Swedish-owned, largest furniture retailer in the world expects to hire about 400 people for this store, the third in Florida, and the largest in Florida. Others are in Orlando and Sunrise, outside of Ft. Lauderdale. Ikea is known for value - good prices for good quality. This will be a great addition to shopping in the Tampa Bay area.
