Grand Prix of St Petersburg races this weekend
The Grand Prix races in downtown St Petersburg are March 30 - April 1, 2007
Some of the downtown St Petersburg streets are already prepared with concrete barriers and high chain link fences. The course loops between the St Petersburg Yacht Club and Albert Whitted Airport, with parts of the race running along the waterfront.
Parking will be scarce, so perhaps you’ll want to park at Tropicana Field and take a free trolley to the race. All downtown trolleys (stopping at various hotels, museums and attractions as well as the races) are free this weekend. Enjoy the ride on The Looper.
Parties are scheduled all weekend, during the races, after the races, even before the races. Bayfront Tower condominiums is adjacent to one of the race streets, so many residents plan parties and watch the action from their balconies just above the track. Others flee for the weekend, avoiding the noise and the crowds.
Perhaps the coolest place to watch the races is from a luxury yacht moored Monaco-style in the South Yacht Basin on floating docks arranged just for the occasion.
